Meet the Peterson Family
Hello friends and neighbors. My name is Terry D. Peterson. I met my beautiful wife, Sherry Sondrup Peterson, in the halls of Orem High School and we have been married 43 years. We have 6 children and 19 (soon to be 20) grandchildren. Sherry and I grew up in Orem and raised our family here. Between us and our children, we attended Westmore Elementary, Sharon Elementary, Cascade Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Cherry Hill Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, Lakeridge Junior High, Orem Junior High, and we all graduated from Orem High School. We love Orem!

Orem Is Home
In June, right before the filing deadline, my wife Sherry and I decided it was time to put ourselves forward to serve you, our neighbors, on the Orem City Council.
We believe that Orem is a special place, with great neighborhoods, a perfect place to raise a family and we want to help keep it that way. In addition I want to add my experience in finance and collaboration to the council. As your city council member I will pledge to you that I will be accessible, listen intently, communicate often, follow though on my commitments and hold the line on keeping Orem a wonderful place to raise a family. |
Terry's Priorities
Make Our First Responders Our First Priority

Honoring our past while planning for a bright futureI have a vision and a plan to keep Orem family friendly coupled with a deep love and connection with Orem.
I grew up picking fruit in Orem's orchards, swimming at the Scera Pool and then working at the Scera Theater scraping gum off the floor and under the seats. While these were not my favorite jobs, they did teach me the value of taking pride in our beautiful city. Our family is working together on this campaign to preserve the values Orem was established on. |
Listening to your concernsMany Orem families, including my own family, have felt powerless and voiceless when decisions have been made with very little input or regard for the opinions of the affected citizens.
I want to change the way our city notices zone changes and additional community town hall events to allow for more transparency and opportunity for collaboration, not just quick comments at council meetings. |
Working together to protect our neighborhoodsOur neighborhoods are the core of our community, How we handle growth in or near our neighborhoods is the biggest issue facing Orem.
Many Orem families, including my own, have been affected by the numerous high density apartment complexes, increased traffic congestion, school closure, friends moving and great businesses leaving Orem. I believe Orem is still a fantastic place to raise a family and operate a business but to keep it that way we need to make some changes. |
